Greening schools is something close to my heart. I have had the pleasure to do green school projects but they require effort and funding to impact change. I decided to attend the Green School Summit in Los Angeles put on by Green Technology. I was thrilled to go but didn’t know what to expect. Traffic was heavy, but I was actually excited that there was difficulty in finding a parking place due to the onslaught of eager people wanting to create change at the classroom level. (more…)

We recently attended the private opening party for Project 7 Ten - the first conventionally constructed platinum LEED home in California. This designation from The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, (LEED) Green Building Rating System shows the commitment those involved in this project had to building an environmentally conscious home.

This home at 710 Milwood Avenue in Venice Beach, California was built with many recycled materials and was designed to not emit toxic gases into the air, rely on solar panels for energy, and reuse rain water for landscaping irrigation. This project is meant to be used as an educational model to create discussion about environmental awareness and to show home buyers and builders possibilities for green building.

The majority of the proceeds are being donated to Healthy Child Healthy World (HCHW), an organization dedicated to educating the public about environmental toxins that affect children’s health.

The opening party was packed full of people, and stars such as David Duchovny, Pierce Brosnan, and Toby Maguire were seen checking out the various eco-conscious attributes of this modern-looking home.
